6 WAYS TO PROMOTE HAIR GROWTH NATURALLY

6 WAYS TO PROMOTE HAIR GROWTH NATURALLY

According to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAP) you are born with 5 million hair follicles that you will always have. The hair on your scalp makes up 100,000 of the hair follicles on your body, yet it’s normal to lose 50-100 hairs per day. There are many reasons someone can experience hair loss: stress, hormone imbalances, genetics, autoimmune diseases, or nutritional deficiencies to name a few. Although it might seem hopeless, there are some things you can do to help and improve your hair growth naturally. If you’d like to learn about Covid-19 and hair loss, read my featured article here: https://hairlossstudios.co.uk/covid-19-hair-loss/

1. Protein & Vitamins

Beauty starts from within. It’s very important to have a balanced diet that includes the right amount of protein and vitamins like Omega 3 and Omega 6, zinc, biotin, Vitamin E, A, and D. There is nothing wrong with adding supplements to your diet, but the best way to incorporate these vitamins are through natural resources so that your body extracts the benefits easier. In short, a healthy and balanced diet should be a priority when trying to grow healthier hair.

2. Scalp Massage

Massaging your scalp has many benefits including releasing stress and helping you relax. Massages will increase blood flow to your scalp, and then on its own will stimulate your roots and bring nutrients to your hair follicles. You can massage your scalp before going to bed or while washing it, just make sure to take your time. You could even apply oil and massage your scalp before washing it. This way, your scalp will be moisturized and will give a shine to your hair after you wash it.

3. Aloe Vera

Everyone knows that aloe vera is great natural option for sunburns, acne, or wounds. Aloe vera has been used for centuries by our ancestors. Although there aren’t many studies that would support hair growth with aloe vera, but we do know that this plant contains vitamins A, C, E, and vitamin B 12. If you decided to give an aloe vera and go on your hair, I would suggest rubbing it on your scalp first, then on your hair. Let it sit and penetrate for an hour, and then wash it. All the vitamins in aloe vera will help strengthen your hair, cleanse your scalp, and strengthen your roots. With enzymes that aloe vera has, it will help break down clogged hair follicles. Besides it will hydrate your hair.

4. Rosemary Oil

I understand rosemary oil isn’t the first thing you would think to grab when it comes to your hair health. Rosemary oil has a hair follicle health benefit and promotes circulation to hair follicles. It’s best to apply it on your scalp, or you can even mix it to your shampoo by adding couple drops. There were multiple studies done comparing Rosemary oil with minoxidil (Rogaine) and rosemary oil was found as effective as minoxidil. When it comes to hair growth you need to give yourself 3 to 6 months to see results, so don’t give up too quickly. The first step in healthy hair growth is to stop your hair from falling out and rosemary oil has ability to do so

5. Trim Split Ends

The problem with split ends is that they don’t stay at your ends, they keep on climbing your hair shaft, which makes it even worse. I understand that it feels hypocritical to trim your hair while trying to grow it, but it will keep your hair healthier, and stronger. Hair that has split ends is more fragile and can break easier. When my clients don’t want to cut their hair than I “dust” it. “Dusting” just takes of a tiny bit and still cuts off some of your split ends, that are usually dry and brittle.

6. Stress Less

Always easier said than done, but stress affects everything in our body because it changes our hormonal balance. When we are stressed, our body is very smart, so it goes into protective mode. The first thing our body will protect is the organs that are needed for survival and will try to get rid of anything that’s not needed like our hair or nails. Have you ever been on a strict diet and six months later start losing hair? How about after having a baby? These things cause hormonal imbalances. How about after a surgery? See our body treats stress the same if it’s major health issue or high stress. Not a lot of people make connections between stress and hair loss because hair loss is happening about 3 to 6 months later. I do know we live in the fast-paced world, but we need to be kind to ourselves and make time for you.

  1. Great tips. I really need to try a scalp massager because I’ve heard about them before. I didn’t know they could help promote natural hair growth though! Thanks for the information!
